Valkyries Win Game 7 Thriller for 2026 WNBA Title

Gabby Williams scored 30 points to lead the Golden State Valkyries to their first WNBA title, a 68-63 Game 7 win over the Atlanta Dream on Saturday night. The 4-3 series win came in the franchise’s second season.

Costume-clad fans turned Ballhalla into “Boohalla” on Halloween night, and Golden State jumped out to an 8-0 lead while Atlanta missed its first 10 field goal attempts. But the Dream fought back, and the game stayed tight until the final seconds.

The game turned on Williams’s second half. She scored 28 of her 30 points in the final 20 minutes, set a Finals record for points in a half, and earned Finals MVP honors. With the game tied, she scored nine straight, including a deep three that made it 60-57 with 2:18 left. She also added four blocks. It was her first WNBA title.

Veronica Burton, cut by Dallas after her first two seasons, made two free throws with 5.1 seconds left to clinch the championship.

For Atlanta, it was another heartbreak. Jordin Canada scored 18, Allisha Gray 16, and Angel Reese had eight points and 12 rebounds, but the Dream were denied in their fourth Finals trip.

Golden State is the first expansion team to win the title in its second year, and Game 7 was its 53rd consecutive sellout. The win capped a run that included a sweep of A’ja Wilson and the defending champion Aces and the first Game 7 in WNBA history.
