Spotify Introduces Playlist Notes to Add Personal Context to Music Streaming

Image from Spotify.Com

Spotify’s new Playlist Notes feature adds a layer of human connection to algorithmic curation. The tool allows both Spotify’s editorial team and everyday users to attach short explanations, personal memories, or recommendations to individual tracks, podcast episodes, and audiobooks within their playlists.

By tapping the three-dot menu next to a track, creators can write notes that explain why a specific song belongs. Meanwhile, Spotify editors are using the feature on flagship playlists like Today’s Top Hits to share cultural insights. Ultimately, Playlist Notes transforms static tracklists into interactive, narrative-driven music experiences.

How to add a notes;

Playlist Notes on user-curated playlists are currently rolling out on iOS and Android in more than 100 markets globally. Availability may differ from editors’ Playlist Notes.

  1. Open a playlist you own or collaborate on.
  2. Tap the three dots (…) next to a track, podcast episode, or audiobook you’ve added to the playlist.
  3. Select Add note.
  4. Enter your note, then tap Save.

If the feature is not available in your app, please Update your Spotify app to get the latest features as they roll out.
