The WNBA All-Star Weekend is set for July 23–25. The centerpiece of the three-day celebration is the 2026 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday, July 25. Leading up to the game, fans can enjoy the Kia WNBA Shooting Stars and the State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest on Friday, July 24, airing on ESPN at 8 p.m. ET from Wintrust Arena. The hosts seized control with a dominant opening quarter, built a double-digit cushion by halftime, and continued to widen the gap in the second half, outscoring the Philippines in both the third and fourth quarters to put the game to bed.

Despite the blowout, Gilas Pilipinas (2-4) will advance to the second round of qualifiers starting this August, where they face tougher opponents. They carry over their record, leaving them with little margin for error. Meanwhile, the undefeated Boomers (6-0) comfortably march forward, safely securing the top spot in Group E for the second round.

Alexandra Eala’s historic run at the 2026 Wimbledon tournament ended with a thrilling match on Monday, July 6, in the Round of 16. Kawhi Leonard Traded back to the Raptors

The LA Clippers have agreed to trade All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-round pick swap and two second-round picks, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

The deal marks a return to Canada for the star who led the Raptors to an NBA title in 2019, winning Finals MVP after he averaged 28.5 points per game in the victory over the Golden State Warriors.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Leonard return to Toronto, especially if the Raptors are willing to sign him to a two-year, $123.7 million extension. Furthermore, the team boasts a lot of promising young talent, namely Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and rookie Allen Graves, whom they drafted 19th overall.

New York Liberty are the 2026 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Champions

LeBron James reportedly has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he plans to play for a different team during the 2026-27 season, according to multiple reports citing Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul.

The move comes after Draymond Green declined his $27.6 million player option, clearing the runway for the Warriors to retain veteran center Kristaps Porzingis on a two-year, $40 million contract extension that includes a second-year player option.

Since joining the Lakers as a free agent in 2018, James has spent the last eight seasons rewriting the record books in Los Angeles. Now the NBA’s all-time leader in points, minutes, games, and seasons played, he averaged 25.9 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.7 rebounds across 479 regular-season appearances with the franchise. His tenure is highlighted by a 2020 championship run, where he captured Finals MVP honors while guiding the Lakers to their 17th title.

With Porzingis locked in, the Warriors are still expected to make a move to acquire LeBron’s former Lakers teammate, Anthony Davis, from the Wizards.

Ja Morant Traded to Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired guard Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for forward Jerami Grant and forward Kris Murray, it was announced today by General Manager Joe Cronin.

Morant (6-2, 174) has appeared in 327 career games (325 starts) over seven NBA seasons with Memphis, averaging 22.4 points, 7.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 31.7 minutes per game. He has earned NBA All-Star honors twice (2022, 2023), was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2022 and received the NBA Most Improved Player Award following the 2021-22 season.

Memphis Grizzlies have now traded all their 4 core players of Morant, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane, and appears to be rebuilding with their young player lead by Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 pick in the 2026 draft.

Morant will join a young and point guard heavy Blazers team fresh off its first playoff appearance lead by Deni Avdija, Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, with their veterans, Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard.

The former PBA Most Valuable Player has been named the new head coach of NLEX, beginning with the 2026 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The appointment was announced Monday evening at the Meralco Center in Pasig, with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, NLEX team governor Ronald Dulatre, and MPTC president Joey Lim present during the signing ceremony.

Alapag takes over from veteran mentor Jong Uichico, who guided the Road Warriors for five conferences and led the team to the quarterfinals in four of them.

The 47-year-old also becomes the fifth head coach in NLEX franchise history.

Coach Alapag will bring a treasure trove of NBA coaching knowledge, especially on the developmental side.

Mystics Outlast Fire in a Quadruple-Overtime Thriller (124 – 123)

The WNBA announced today that Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas has been assessed a Flagrant Foul 2 penalty and a one-game suspension following a league review.

The disciplinary action stems from an incident with 6:52 remaining in the second quarter of the Mercury’s 111-109 victory over the Indiana Fever last night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Upon review, the league determined that Thomas committed a non-basketball act by recklessly making contact with her fist to the throat of Fever guard Caitlin Clark.

Under WNBA rules, the league office retains the right to retroactively upgrade fouls and issue fines or suspensions postgame. Thomas is scheduled to serve her suspension on June 27, missing the Mercury’s upcoming road game against the Toronto Tempo.
