Elena Rybakina produced a masterclass in composure and ball-striking to claim her maiden US Open title, defeating two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in a dramatic final at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The victory also secures Rybakina the world No. 1 ranking, ending Sabalenka’s 99-week reign at the top.

The showdown highlighted one of modern tennis’s fiercest rivalries. Rybakina drew first blood by breaking in the fifth game of the opening set, leveraging her formidable serve to secure the lead. Sabalenka mounted a fierce rally in the second set, utilizing her trademark explosive power to break late and force a deciding third set.

However, Rybakina quickly regained control in the final set. Winning 85.4% of her first-serve points and unleashing 12 aces throughout the match, the Kazakh dictating play from the baseline and broke Sabalenka twice to close out the victory in two hours and 21 minutes.
