The Minnesota Lynx received two major WNBA awards on Monday: Olivia Miles was named Rookie of the Year, and Cheryl Reeve was named Coach of the Year for a league-record fifth time.
Miles, the second overall pick out of TCU, was a unanimous selection after setting the WNBA rookie scoring record. She broke the mark with 790 points. She averaged 19.8 points, 6.0 assists and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 49.2% from the field. She also set a rookie record with eight three-pointers in a single game, a June 4 win over the Valkyries. She is the sixth Lynx player to win the award.
Reeve received 40 of 74 votes from the media panel, and Golden State’s Natalie Nakase finished second with 20. Reeve led the Lynx to a 33-11 record and the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs, and became the league’s all-time winningest coach on July 8.

The awards came just before the Lynx traveled to New York for an elimination game in their best-of-three first-round series, after losing the opener at home to the Liberty.
