More than four months after announcing Apple’s acquisition of Pixelmator, the deal appears to have been completed without any announcement, since users of the Pixelmator apps are displaying new splash screen announcing the deal.
The messages on the splash screen is a simple “We are excited to announce that Pixelmator Pro is now part of Apple,” and Pixelmator users confirmed that they are getting the similar message using app.
So both Pixelmator Pro and Photomator now officially belong to Apple. pic.twitter.com/ASNExgWBg2

Apple now owns Pixelmator fully. I hope this is a good thing, but I did love that for many years I have been using it, the company has always provided regular updates and features. Something to be said for a hungry independent company. Still could be integrated in some great… pic.twitter.com/cfvw5xQEnz

While Apple has acquired Pixelmator, they haven’t revealed plans for the app’s future. It remains a standalone product for now, and hopefully won’t suffer the same fate as Apple’s Aperture app, which was discontinued in 2015.
