In a statement, Go said he will run for vice president after Duterte announced his “retirement” from politic, withdrawing his acceptance of the PDP-Laban nomination for the same post.

“Given that President Rodrigo Duterte decided to withdraw his acceptance of nomination, I am here to take on the challenge as PDP-Laban’s Vice Presidential candidate,” Go said in a statement.

With the latest development, it’s unclear who will be the new candidate for the position of President and if the replacement will even have a chance of running against Isko Moreno and Ping Lacson, who already announced their intension to run for the highest office in the country.

1Sambayan officially name Leni Robredo as their Presidential bet for the 2022 Election

After announcing their nominees for President more than 4 months ago, 1Sambayan coalition has named VP Leni Robredo as one of their official Presidential candidate for the coming 2022 National Election.

The announcement was made by retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Antonio Carpio, in a 50-minutes video (embedded below) titled ‘TAPATAN Media Forum: ANG PAMBATO NG 1SAMBAYAN’ that was streamed live on the coalition facebook page and then alter shared on their official twitter account.

1Sambayan’s announcement came just 10 days after Isko Moreno announced his Presidential bid. Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is one of the 1Sambayan’s Presidential candidate.

Vice President Leni Robredo has yet to formally declare her Presidentail run, she is however expected to announce her plans for the 2022 Election soon, since filing of the President and Vice President candidacies starts this Friday, October 1, 2021 and will end on before midnight of October 8, 2021.

1Sambayan’s response to Duterte’s VP bid for 2022 election

1Sambayan, the opposition coalition that’s compose of former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, SC Justice Antonio Carpio and former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert Del Rosario, to name a few, just release their statement regarding the acceptance of Pres. Duterte for his Vice President nomination by PDP-Laban party.

Here the gist of their statement;

It shows a clear mockery of our Constitution and democratic process. Obviously, this is driven by fear of accountability both from ICC and from our own justice system. The candidacy is both legally and morally wrong, and we trust that the Filipino people will realize his brazen, selfish and self-serving motives.

Sadly, today’s declaration comes at the heels of numerous allegations of corruption and continuing EJK, even as we mourn the death of 30,000 Filipinos due to the a failed COVID-19 response.

The coalition’s statement in both Filipino and in English, to make sure that everyone will be able to read it. I embedded their original post below.

Vice President Leni Robredo New Year’s Message to Filipinos

Written in Filipino, Vice President Leni Robredo is as optimistic as ever, specially this coming 2018. Here’s the full text of her message.

Mensahe
