Golden State Warriors takes game 1 of the Western Conference Finals

Golden State Warriors are 3-wins away for their sixth trip to the NBA Finals in the past eight years.

Game 1 was more on the defensive that offense, since the Warriors D forced Luka Doncic into just 6-for-18 shooting and a playoffs season-low 20 points. This was after coming off a 35-point and 63% shooting game to eliminate the top-seeded Phoenix Suns.

On the Golden State side, it was fairly a balanced scoring, where seven Warriors who played for at least 13 minutes are in double figures. It was a double-double night for Steph Curry, scoring 21 points with 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Received plenty of help from Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole contributed 19 points apiece, Klay Thompson had 15 and, Kevon Looney, Draymond Green and Otto Porter Jr. each had 10-points.

Andrew Wiggins was primary defender on Luka Doncic forcing him to a 6-of-18 shooting, that includes 3-for-10 on three-point range.

As a team, Golden State shot 46-82 (56.1%) from the field and 10-29 (34.5%) from behind the arc, while the Mavs shot 31-86 (36%) field goal and 11-48 or 22.9% from the three-point line.

To be fair, it could just be fatigue on the Mavs after coming off a 7 game series against the Phoenix Suns but they won’t have any more excuse in game 2, which will still be at Chase Center this Friday night.

Warriors defeats Grizzlies (110 – 96), first to qualify for the Western Conference Finals

Golden State Warriors are back in the Western Conference Finals by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies, 110 – 96.

It was a must win for the Warriors after an embarrassing lost in Game 5 at Memphis, when they trailed by as many as 55 points and lose by 39. It was an evenly matched games until in the closing minutes of the game where Warriors found their stroke in the 3-point line and went on a 21-3 run to close the game.

It started with Andrew Wiggins who scored 10 of his 18 points in the 4th qtr with a pair of timely 3s that kept them in the game, then Steph Curry found his shooting touch late in the closing minute. together with Klay Thompson, who shot 8 of 14 from 3-point range — 11 for 22 for the game – this was his fourth career postseason game with eight 3s, tying Ray Allen, Curry, and Damian Lillard for most in NBA history.

GSW also got a huge boost from Kevon Looney grabbing 22 rebounds and Draymond Green with 14-points, 15-rebounds and 8-assists.

The Grizzlies are without their 3rd-year star PG Ja Morant, who is suffering from a bone bruise, which the team blamed on Jordan Poole pulling on the knee while going for a loose ball in Game 3.

The Warriors are also missing key personnel namely; Gary Payton II with a broken his left elbow, which suffered from an awkward fall after being hit over the head by Brooks in Game 2; Otto Porter Jr. with soreness in his right foot and Veteran Andre Iguodala, who is still sidelined with a left cervical disc injury. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is also MIA, since entering league’s Health & Safety protocols, he is expected to be back by Game 1 of the WCF.

The Golden State Warrior will face the winner of the game 7 matchup between Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks.

Curry hits buzzer beater to beat Rockets 105-103

It was a bad shooting night for Steph Curry but he made it up by making the go a head shot to beat the Rockets 105-103.

Rocket’s young players were hitting the shots from beyond the arc, a one point, Garrison Mathews made a 4-point play when Andrew Wiggins was slapped with flagrant foul 1, but a couple of break in the last 5 minutes were in favor of the Warriors, which gave them the edge to take home the win.

A three by Jordan Poole that cut the deficit to 4-points, then after a stop on the other end, a slam by Otto Porter which was assisted by Curry, then followed by a J. Poole drive to tie the gamne.

A missed 27-foot three point jumper by Garrison Mathews gave Golden State the possession with 5.1 sec remaining in the game clock, that’s when Stephen Curry made the 20-foot step back jumpshot to seal the game for the Warriors.

Sen. Manny Pacquiao retires from boxing, focuses on the coming 2022 National Election

In a two-word Facebook post, the 8-division world boxing champion, Sen. Manny Pacquiao announces his retirement from boxing and will focus on his Presidential bid for the coming 2022 National election.

The post also includes a 14-minutes video, showcasing high-lights of his boxing career. I embedded the facbeook post with the video below.

Manny Pacquiao previously accepted his nominations of the Pacquiao/Pimentel-led faction of PDP-Laban, for him to run for President in the coming 2022 Elections.

Stars and celebrities reacts to Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Yordenis Ugas

Manny Pacquiao, boxing’s only 8th Division champ, lost to Yordenis Ugas in yesterday’s WBA super welterweight match in Las Vegas and just like in his previous fights, stars and celebrities have a message or two regarding the match.

Even Skip Bayless, a known basketball journalist and commentator, gave his two-cents and a controversial topic.

NBA Superstar Damiam Lillard, would also chime in his reaction about the fight.

Even Errol Spencs Jr., who is suppose to be with Manny in the ring gave a very short and cryptic reaction.

Another tweet from Terence Crawford, who is at onetime, a potential Manny Pacquiao opponent, which we can all agree will no longer happen.

It still unclear what will be Manny’s plan for his boxing career but it’s safe to say that if he this is indeed his last fight, then we made all Filipino proud and Filipinos boxsers will always be in the boxing landscape forever.

Yordenis Ugas defeats Manny Pacquiao in a unanimous decision to retain WBA title

In a stunning upset, Philippine Senator and the 8th time world champion Manny Pacquiao lost to Yordenis Ugas, in a unanimous decision, where all three judges scored: 116-112, 115-113 and 116-112.

Manny Pacquiao was schedule to face Errol Spence but needed to be replaced by Yordenis Ugas, when Spence suffered a detached retina in his left eye just 12 days before the fight.

It was a close fight where both fighters continuously exchange blows but by the end of the fight that Manny’s age was showing as Ugas just absorbs each of his jabs and hooks.

It’s unclear what will be Manny’s next move in the ring even though we all know what his political ambitions are. This may every well be Manny’s fight and its been one hell of a boxing career.

Kevin Durant leads Team USA to take home the Gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics over France (87-82)

Kevin Durant and the rest of the US Basketball team secured the gold medal for men’s basketball at the 2022 Tokyo Olympics. The Team USA defeated France 87-82, in a hard fought game, which the United States team are a favorite to win but an upset by the French team was also expected, since they are the only team that gave the US basketball team their only loss in the tournament.

This is KD’s third Olympic gold medal, scoring 29 point to cap off this year’s tournament. His previous record for the past 2 gold-medal was 30-points a piece.

Team USA needed all 40 minutes to secure the win, since France’s basketball team still saw a chance steal the gold, when the U.S. team missed 3 of their last 4 free throw before KD sink both of his free-throw to put the game away.

It looks like wait is over as Giannis Antetokounmpo signs the five-year supermax extension that the Milwaukee Bucks offered the two-time MVP.

Antetokounmpo sign the extension a week before the Dec. 21 deadline and basically removing this name off the free agents market next summer. The five-year, $228.2 million extension Antetoknoumpo signed will make him the highest-paid player in NBA history.

We may still Giannis Antetokounmpo in another uniform, since he will just be 31 years old by the time the 5-year extension ends and still in his prime.
