Golden State Warriors Ends Losing Skid with a Win Over Rockets (121 – 116)

The Golden State Warriors finally got their much needed win and stopped their 6-game losing streak with a hard-fought 121-116 victory over the Houston Rockets on Monday night at Chase Center. Stephen Curry, the league’s all-time leading 3-point shooter, led the Warriors with 32 points and five 3-pointers, extending his remarkable streak of making at least four 3-pointers in each of his first 13 games this season.

Klay Thompson, also finally broke out of his shoot slumped and had a big night for the Warriors, scoring 20 points on 5-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc and 7-16 from the field. Aside from Thompson, the Warriors got a lot of help specially from their starters, Andrew Wiggins scoring 12 pts and 7 rebs, then Chris Paul with his 15 points and 12 assists and add the 18 points of Dario Saric. The starter’s performance, particular that of Thompson was a welcome sight for the team, who have been relying on Curry to carry the scoring load.

The Rockets were led by Center Alperen Sengun, who scored 30 points. However, even if all the starters scored 10 or more points, their efforts were not enough to overcome the Warriors’ balanced attack and 48.8% shooting from beyond the arc.

The Warriors led by as many as 14 points in the second half, but the Rockets fought back to make it a close game in the fourth quarter. Curry, however, hit a clutch 3-pointer with 2:09 remaining to give the Warriors a 13-point cushion to secure the win.

The Houston Rockets will the struggling Grizzlies at home this Wednesday, while the Warriors will visit the Kevin Durant and the Suns on the 22nd of Nov.

Curry hits buzzer beater to beat Rockets 105-103

It was a bad shooting night for Steph Curry but he made it up by making the go a head shot to beat the Rockets 105-103.

Rocket’s young players were hitting the shots from beyond the arc, a one point, Garrison Mathews made a 4-point play when Andrew Wiggins was slapped with flagrant foul 1, but a couple of break in the last 5 minutes were in favor of the Warriors, which gave them the edge to take home the win.

A three by Jordan Poole that cut the deficit to 4-points, then after a stop on the other end, a slam by Otto Porter which was assisted by Curry, then followed by a J. Poole drive to tie the gamne.

A missed 27-foot three point jumper by Garrison Mathews gave Golden State the possession with 5.1 sec remaining in the game clock, that’s when Stephen Curry made the 20-foot step back jumpshot to seal the game for the Warriors.

Warriors will host the Jazz this Sunday night, while Rockets will host San Antonio on Tuesday night.

Houston Rockets destroyed the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 120 – 88 win

ESPN;

The Houston Rockets played beautiful basketball Saturday night, and they destroyed the Cavs 120-88. Chris Paul was a maestro from the opening moments; it was a display of the reason why the Rockets are brilliant when he and MVP candidate James Harden are so great together (now 23-3 when both guards start). Paul was a breathtaking plus-47 for the night. The score probably could’ve been anything Paul wanted it to be.

The statement above probably sums up the whole game. Lebron James did not have his usual numbers, after playing for 31 minutes he only have 12 pts, 9 rebounds and 9 assists, and even though they got some individual contribution from Rose and Wade (both with 10 pts), Thomas (12 pts) and Smith (12 pts), as a team the Cavs are lethargic on both ends of the floor.

Rockets will visit Brooklyn, while the Cavs will go to Orlando on Tuesday. Hopefully the two days rest will allow the Cavs to regroup.
