Filipina tennis star Alex Eala was eliminated in the Round of 16 at the 2026 Canadian Open in Toronto, falling 4-6, 0-6 to 12th seed Belinda Bencic. After a competitive opening set where Eala traded early service breaks with the Swiss veteran, Bencic dominated the second set to end Eala’s seven-match winning streak.

Despite the loss, Eala’s strong run underscores her rapid rise on the WTA Tour following her maiden singles title at the Mubadala DC Open in Washington. Next, the 21-year-old world No. 20 continues her North American hard-court campaign as she prepares for the US Open.
