TNT shrugged off its manpower problems by stamping its class over hapless Terrafirma, 107-89, Thursday and regaining a share of the Group A lead in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
A monster game for Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who was three assists short for a triple-double.
The Scores :
TNT 107 – Hollis-Jefferson 26, Pogoy 14, Erram 14, Aurin 13, Nambatac 10, Castro 10, Khobuntin 7, Exciminiano 7, Heruela 3, Payawal 3, Ebona 0, Vosotros 0.
TERRAFIRMA 89 – Hester 23, Standhardinger 18, Hernandez 13, Ferrer 13, Pringle 12, Hanapi 3, Cahilig 3, Sangalang 2, Ramos 2, Olivario 0, Grospe 0.
QUARTERS: 30-22, 55-49, 76-68, 107-89
In an attempt to make the games more exciting and engaging, Asia’s first professional basketball league will introduce the “four-point shot” from beyond a 27-foot arc.
PBA previously adopted the “four-point shot” but it was during a PBA All-Star Games, but with this announcement, it’ll be in official games.
Newly elected vice chairman Alfrancis Chua said that it will minimize zone defense, defense need to come out and it will speed up the games.
“Nagawa na natin ito sa All-Star Game. With this rule, mababawasan ang zone defense, lalabas ang depensa at mas tutulin ang laro,”
It remain to be seen if the addition of the “four-point shot” will make the game more exciting and in turn increase their ticket sales.
I guess, we’ll just to wait and see.

Lewis Alfred “LA” Vasquez Tenorio, the veteran point guard for the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), announced on Wednesday that he is cancer free.
Tenorio, who was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in March 2023, underwent surgery and chemotherapy. He missed the remainder of the 2022-23 PBA season, including the Gin Kings’ run to the Governors’ Cup finals, where they lost to TNT.
In a statement, Tenorio thanked his family, friends, teammates, coaches, and fans for their support during his battle with cancer.
Sept. 19, 2023, as I step out of my doctor’s clinic with my wife, and as my nurse pulls out my chemo line plugged into my heart for 6 months, I am writing this message to everyone.
For those who were my prayer warriors, for those who showed me so much love and support…Know that, I am forever grateful to all of you.
My scan and last test results show no trace of cancer and that the treatment was effective. I now in remission. Praise God!
Tenorio is a 17-year veteran of the PBA. He has won eight championships with Ginebra, including three Governors’ Cups. He is also a four-time Finals MVP. In the same statement, Tenorio said that he will have a basketball comeback.
Now I am returning to basketball for my love of the game. This time with a higher purpose. Not as the old LA, but hopefully with the new and better version of myself. I hope I can help inspire people through the game of basketball – that life, winning battles, winning championships are all more meaningful not because of the end goal but because of the journey.
Its unclear if LA will be suiting up for Ginebra as a player or part of the coaching staff and when, but regardless of the position, LA Tenorio’s return will be a major boost for Ginebra, which is looking to win its third consecutive Governors’ Cup title in 2023-24.
Today is the big day for all PBA hopefuls, the 48th Season PBA Draft is considered as one of the deepest draft pool with 124 applicants locally and internationally.

It’s been 3 weeks since the start of the PBA “bubble” in Clark-Angeles, Pampanga, the league decided to postpone all games starting today, October 30, 2020, following the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and Department of Health (DOH).
The decision was made a week after a player from Blackwater and a referee tested positive for the coronavirus.
The postponement of games will surely delay the December target for the completion of the PBA 2020 Philippine Cup Conference.

PBA just awarded the sixth Most Valuable Player award of June Mar Fajardo. Fajardo is the only PBA player to have the most MVP award in PBA history, he is two MVP awards ahead of Ramon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio in the all-time MVP list.
Despite the award, the San Miguel Big man will miss out the action in the Philippine Cup, since he is currently recovering from a fractured shin. San Miguel is the defending Philippine Cup Champion.
Fajardo garnered a total of 3,140 points coming from statistical points, media votes, players’ votes and PBA votes to get MVP No. 6.

TnT Katropa has acquired center Poy Erram in a three-team trade involving NLEX and Blackwater.
The 6-9 slotman was acquired by the KaTropa from the Blackwater Elite, who reacquired Erram from NLEX in exchange for Anthony Semerad and Rabeh Al Hussaini.
In addition, the Road Warriors also acquired the rights to Blackwater’s 2020 first round pick and 2021 second round draft pick.
Blackwater eventually dealt Erram to the Katropa for Marion Magat, Ed Daquioag, Yousef Taha and TNT’s 2021 and 2022 first round picks.
I feel that the TNT is the clear winner in this deal and they become a clear contender in the coming All Filipino conference.
