Nike’s Jordan Brand releases Zion 3 with focus on containment, court feel and impact protection

Nike’s Jordan brand just released the 3rd signature shoes for Pelicans’ star Zion Williamson. The company said that the new shoes was designed specifically for Zion Williamson’s playing style with emphasis on containment, court feel and impact protection.

The Zion 3 will be available in 3 colorway; Sanctuary colorway; Fresh Paint ; Mud, Sweat and Tears; and an exclusive ‘black and white’ colorway that will be available in December 2023.

Jordan Brand design is rooted in equal parts motion and emotion. Each player in the Jordan Brand signature lineup embodies a different playing style that evokes a certain feeling in those who watch it. The Zion 3 was built for Zion Williamson’s playing style — a blitz of strength and speed — by supporting him in three specific ways: containment, court feel and impact protection.

The midsole cushioning is designed to help absorb the forces of Zion’s explosive game. The midsole is comprised of Formula 23 foam with a Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for responsive cushioning. A drop-in midsole supports comfort and stability. The stack height is the lowest yet on a Zion signature shoe. This gives players cushion where they need it, but also helps them feel in control of their ground movements, like a tight spin off the low block.

The rubber herringbone traction pattern helps enable quickness and control as well, while the iconic “Z” icon, which has been consistent on Zion’s signature line, comes to life via a raised TPU material and helps with lateral containment.

The Zion 3 “Sanctuary” colorway will be first releases exclusively in North America in September, while the “Mud, Sweat and Tears” colorway launches globally in October on jordan.com and at select retailers. The SRP for the new Zion 3 will be $140 USD.

Participants for the Mountain Dew 3-Point Contest at the NBA 2022 All-Star in Cleveland

Even though Steph Curry will not defend his 3-Point crown, there are plenty of star power for this year’s Mountain Dew 3-Point Contest at the NBA 2022 All-Star in Cleveland.

Headlining the 8-player contest are;
• CJ McCollum, New Orleans Pelicans
• Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks
• Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls
• Desmond Bane, Memphis Grizzlies
• Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves
• Fred VanVleet, Toronto Raptors
• Luke Kennard, LA Clippers
• Patty Mills, Brooklyn Nets

Our of the 8, my favorite to win the contest is Trae Young, who whether he wants to admit it or not, looks like Steph Curry Jr. 🙂
