Here are the winners of MMFF 2023 Gabi ng Parangal

It’s that time of the year again, where we recognize the best and brightest actors, filmmakers, and films in the country at the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal. The event was held last Wednesday, December 27th, at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

From the usual 8 film, this year a total of 10 films for the went head to head for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival awards night and they are not your “usual suspect.”

Firefly took home the Best Picture and Best Screenplay. Euwenn Mikaell won the Best Child Performer award under Firefly, as well. But Pepe Diokno’s GomBurZa won the most number of awards, taking home a whopping 7 awards; Best Sound, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award, Best Director, Best Actor and 2nd Best Picture.

  4. Best Score: Von de Guzman, Mallari

  6. Best Visual Effects: Gaspar Mangarin, Mallari
  7. Best Production Design: Ericson Navarro, GomBurZa
  8. Best Editing: Benjamin Tolentino, K(Ampon)
  9. Best Cinematography: Carlo Canlas Mendoza, GomBurZa
  10. Gender Sensitivity: Becky & Badette
  11. Marichu Vera-Perez Maceda Memorial Award: Lily Monteverde
  12. Gatpuno Antonio Villegas Cultural Award: GomBurZa
  13. Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award for Excellence: When I Met You in Tokyo
  14. Best Screenplay: Angeli Atienza, Firefly
  15. Best Director: Pepe Diokno, GomBurZa
  16. Best Supporting Actress: Miles Ocampo, Family of Two
  17. Best Supporting Actor: JC Santos, Mallari
  18. Best Actor: Cedrick Juan, GomBurZa
  19. Best Actress: Vilma Santos, When I Met You in Tokyo
  20. 4th Best Picture: When I Met You in Tokyo
  21. 3rd Best Picture: Mallari
  22. 2nd Best Picture: GomBurZa

IF you still have not seen any of the movies for the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival, you still have until January 7, 2024.

Official entries to the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival Announced

Ten movies for the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival have been officially announced. The first four entries was announced back in July, these film were chosen based on script submissions, and the 6 additional film was officially announced in a press conference that was streamed on the organization’s FB page @mmffofficial.

These are the first four entries;

  • “A Mother and Son’s Story” by Cineko Productions, Inc. starring Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards
  • “(K)ampon” by Quantum Films starring Beauty Gonzales and Derek Ramsay
  • “Penduko” by Sari Sari Network starring Cristine Reyes and Matteo Guidicelli
  • “Rewind” a Star Cinema project of celebrity couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera

The six additional films to complete the 2023 MMFF entries are:

  • “When I Met You in Tokyo ” starring Christopher de Leon and Vilma Santos
  • “Becky and Badette” starring Eugene Domingo and Pokwang
  • “Mallari” starring Piolo Pascual and Janella Salvador
  • “Firefly” starring Alessandra de Rossi with Cherry Pie Picache
  • “Broken Hearts Trip” starring Christian Bables and Andoy Ranay
  • “Gomburza” starring Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, Piolo Pascual and Cedrick Juan

The 49th Metro Manila Film Festival will kick-off with the parade of stars on December 17th, this year’s theme is CAMANAVA, then the film festival itself will run from December 25th thru January 7th, 2024. The MMFF Awards night will happen on the 27th of December.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 24th, the official facebook page of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) released the official movie posters of all MMFF 2022 entries.

Watch the official trailer of A Hard Day, starring Dingdong Dantes and John Arcilla

Viva Films released the official trailer of the action-suspense-comedy film, A Hard Day. The film is based on a 2014 South Korean film of the same of the title.

The film follows the story of Detective Villon (Dingdong Dantes) who runs over a man, then tries to hide the dead body in his mother’s coffin on the day of her funeral. His life becomes more complicated, following an argument with his fellow cop (John Arcilla). A Hard Day is directed by Law Fajardo and will star by Dingdong Dantes and John Arcilla.

A Hard Day is Viva’s official entry to the inaugural Summer Metro Manila Film Festival 2020 and will be in theaters April 11th.

Traffic Advisory: Route of Parade of Stars on December 23, 2017

You may want to avoid these road/streets on the 23rd of December, 2:00 PM on wards. But if you’re there for star gazing, then you this is where you find the brightest star in the Philippine Entertainment business, since its not called Parade of Stars for nothing.


Parade of Stars will be on December 23, 2017 , 2:00pm and will take place at Muntinlupa City.

The parade will start at Muntinlupa Sports Center, Tunasan and will end at Filinvest City Event Grounds, Alabang.
