Short-handed Indiana Fever gives Chicago Sky a 22-point beating (92 – 70)

Even though the Fever were without their three point guards, they handed the Sky a 22-point beating (92–70).

Four of the Indiana Fever’s starters scored in double digits: Aliyah Boston with 15 points, Kelsey Mitchell with 26 points (4-of-8 from the three-point line) and 8 assists, Sophie Cunningham with 16 points (3-of-6 from the three-point line), and Lexie Hull with 17 points (4-of-6 from the three-point line). Natasha Howard also contributed 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The bench also made an impact, especially on the defensive end, with three steals and two blocks. Makayla Timpson added 7 points off the bench.

Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald are both out with season-ending injuries from their last game against Phoenix. Colson suffered a torn left ACL, while McDonald had a broken bone in her right foot. Caitlin Clark is also still out with a groin injury.

Sky are also missing some key players mainly Angel Reese with a back injury and Courtney Vandersloot with a torn right ACL injury.

The Indiana Fever will play their next two games at home, starting with the Dallas Wings this Wednesday. The Sky will visit Connecticut on Thursday.

Fever win over Sky for a second straight win (93 – 78)

After losing straight two games against the NY Liberty, the Indiana Fever have won their second straight against the Las Vegas Aces and the latest is against the Chicago Sky. Fever won their last two games without their star PG Caitlin Clark who is out because of a her groin injury and “no timetable available for her return.”

Against the Aces; It was a hard fought game but the Fever manage to win with the clutch 3 from Aari McDonald that gave the Fever an 8-point cushion with less than 40 second remaining in the game.

Kelsey Mitchell, Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston lead the Indiana Fever to beat the Las Vegas Aces 80-70 on Thursday night.

In their win against the Sky, Kelsey Mitchell lead the Fever with 35 points with seven 3-pointers. Mitchell kept the Fever afloat whenever the Sky made a run, she also made 6 assists and 3 steals to picked up her 200th career steals. Aliyah Boston had 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the team. Makayla Timpson had 14 points off the bench with 3 steals, and Aari McDonald added 10 points.

For the Sky, Rachel Banham had a career night of 26 points, 6 of 11 three pointers and was the one leading the run for the Sky. Kia Nurse and Rebecca Allen added 14 and 13 points, respectively. This is the second game that Angel Reese missed her second second straight game because of a back issue.

ICYMI: Fever suffers another loss to Sparks (87 – 89)

After winning three games in a row, including their Commissioner’s Cup victory over the Lynx, and doing so without their star PG Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever were defeated by the LA Sparks in two consecutive games. Both were close games where neither team gained a lead larger than 8 points.

Azura Stevens led the Sparks with 21 points and 12 rebounds, and she also shot 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. Kelsey Plum added 20 points, and Dearica Hamby contributed 18 points and 4 assists.

The Fever had another strong defensive game with 33 rebounds, 3 steals, and 6 blocks. Indiana’s defensive effort was highlighted by Makayla Timpson’s block on Rickea Jackson at the end of the 1st quarter. Indiana led throughout the 4th quarter but was scoreless in the last 1:45 of the game. Aliyah Boston had one more chance to extend the game to overtime but missed a 21-foot pull-up jumper coming off a timeout.
