Clark lead Fever win over Sparks (87 – 78)

Caitlin Clark just silenced doubters in the Indiana Fever’s 87–78 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks. Following a stellar 20-point season opener, Clark dismantled the Sparks’ defense with 24 points and 9 assists, showcasing the elite vision and scoring punch that defined her collegiate career.

Fully recovered from the groin injury that sidelined her for much of 2025, Clark looked every bit the superstar Indiana envisioned. She was flanked by a scorching Kelsey Mitchell, who poured in 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting, helping the Fever shoot 49% as a team. The game also featured the debut of Monique Billings, scoring 9 points with 8 rebounds, who was signed by the team in the off season alongside Sophie Cunningham, who added 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Despite Sparks multiple veteran presence, they could not keep up with the Fever’s fast paced tempo. Kelsey Plum lead the Sparks with 25 points and 4 assists, while Dearica Hamby and Cameron Brink added 16 points and 11 points, respectively.

Game highlights;

Indiana will face the Washington Mystics this Saturday to kick off a four-game homestand. Meanwhile, the Sparks will look to rebound at home with two upcoming games against the Toronto Tempo on May 15 and 17.

ICYMI: Kate Martin signed by Los Angeles Sparks to Player Development Pool

After being waived by the Valkyries, Kate Martin was pickup by Los Angeles Sparks to a player development contract.

In their announcement, “Kate is a gifted shooter, whose grittiness and winning history mesh well with Sparks basketball,” said Sparks General Manager Raegan Pebley. “She’s confident in her shot, plays tenacious defense and is an unselfish, high-energy teammate. We’re eager to watch Kate develop within our system.”

WNBA teams can now maintain two developmental players who train in-house and receive benefits without hitting the salary cap. These players act as a talent reserve, eligible for activation in up to 12 games to provide critical roster depth.

ICYMI: Sparks Halt Fever’s Winning Streak (91 – 100)

The Los Angeles Sparks snapped the Indiana Fever’s five-game winning streak with a decisive 100-91 victory at the Crypto.com Arena. The Sparks’ potent offense was on full display, with Kelsey Plum and Rickea Jackson leading the charge, each scoring 25 points. Plum also dished out a game-high 11 assists, notching her second double-double of the season. Cameron Brink, playing her third game back from an injury, tied her career high with five blocks.

Indiana, who had been red-hot coming into the matchup, was led by Kelsey Mitchell’s 34 points and six assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Sparks’ balanced attack and defense. The Fever got off to a strong start, taking a one-point lead after the first quarter (27-26), but Los Angeles took control with a 28-point second quarter and never looked back. While Indiana mounted a late comeback, trimming a 22-point deficit down to just six with two minutes left in the game (95-89), they were unable to overcome the Sparks’ lead.

Full Game Highlights

Indiana is on the tail-end of a five-game road trip, with their last game against the Phoenix Mercury this Thursday. The LA Sparks will also host the Connecticut Sun on Thursday.

Angel Reese suffered season-ending wrist injury against the Los Angeles Sparks

Angel Reese, posted on her @angelreese5 Instagram account;

What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol🥲 Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. “God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.”

You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon!

A not so good news for Chicago Sky fans and fans of Angel Reese. The news comes at a time when Chicago Sky are fighting for the final playoff spot. The Sky have 6 remaining games and are currently 8th in the standings with 12-22 (win-loss), the same with Atlanta Dream and just a game ahead of Washington Mystics (11-23).
