This fresh take on a story of love, crime, and vengeance will especially delight newcomers. However, it also has a legacy to uphold. The 1994 film set a high bar that sequels couldn’t quite reach.

The Crow (1994) achieved cult status not just for its goth aesthetic, but also due to the tragic death of Brandon Lee during filming. A technical error caused a prop gun to fire a fatal shot, forcing rewrites and graphic alterations.

Despite these challenges, the film garnered a devoted following, positive reviews, and a global box office gross exceeding $90 million.

John Wick 5 and other Spin-offs under development

For all those who watched John Wick 4, it’s remains to be seen if John Wick really did die with his duel with the Marquis Vincent de Gramont portrayed by Bill Skarsgård, and it looks like we will soon get our answer, since it’s been reported that John Wick 5 and other IP from the ‘John Wick Universe’ is under development.

In a report by Comicbook.com, during Lionsgate Q4 2023 earnings call, Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake confirmed that John Wick 5 is in early development and they’re expanding the ‘John Wick Universe’ starting with spin-off Ballerina film and the TV series “The Continental.”

We’re now moving across that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what the regular cadence of spin-offs, television really growing that universe so that there is a steady cadence of a franchise that there’s clear appetite by the audience,” Drake explained. “What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including [John Wick 5] and including television series, The Continental, will be airing soon. And so, we’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.

The premise of the film is that ballerina-assassin Rooney (Armas) hunts the murderers of her family. The film is scheduled to be released on 7th June 2024.

Still in development is a spin-off television series entitled The Continental which will feature younger versions of several John Wick characters and more like revolve on how the rules and the hotel itself was build.
