Gunn revealed that Momoa has lobbied for the “Main Man” since day one, texting him in all caps the moment the new DCU was announced. Fans—myself included—are already calling it a masterstroke of casting, praising the rugged, comic-accurate transformation.
It’s a rare phenomenon in Hollywood: that moment when an actor and a character align so perfectly that the two become inseparable. While we usually have to wait for the film to hit theaters to be sure, some roles feel like they were written into an actor’s DNA from the start.
In honor of Momoa’s “Main Man” debut, here are some of the most perfect castings in cinema history:
| Actor | Role |
| Ryan Reynolds | Deadpool |
| Robert Downey Jr. | Iron Man |
| Hugh Jackman | Wolverine |
| Margot Robbie | Harley Quinn |
| J.K. Simmons | J. Jonah Jameson |
| Patrick Stewart | Professor X (X-Men) |
| Christopher Reeve | Superman (Superman) |
| Ron Perlman | Hellboy (Hellboy) |
| Chadwick Boseman | T’Challa (Black Panther) |
