HBO just release the much awaited Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon. The series is based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 novel ‘Fire and Blood’ and set 2 centuries before the event of Games of Thrones.
House of the Dragon focuses on the fall of House Targaryen and the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the “Dance of the Dragons.”
The teaser did not provide much details on the series except that it’ll have a stellar cast;
- Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen
- Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen
- Olivia Cooke as Queen Alicent Hightower
- Emily Carey portrays young Alicent Hightower
- Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen
- Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon
- Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon
- Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria
- Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole

It’s unclear if House of the Dragon will have the same success as the Games of Thrones, and if having a familiar surname “Targaryen” is enough to sway Games of Thrones fans back to world of the Seven Kingdoms.
The House of Dragon will have ten episodes and will premiere in HBO Max in 2022. HBO did not provide any specifics regarding the release date.
