WNBA officially sets 2026 Free Agency Schedule

The WNBA and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association agreed today that free agency will open tomorrow, April 6, with the start of the Designation Period, the WNBA announced today.

The Negotiation Period will begin on Wednesday, April 8 and continue for three days. Teams and players will first be able to sign new contracts beginning on Saturday, April 11.

This is a free-for-all period for teams and free agents alike. It could make or break a team, depending on how the front office performs during this free agency window.

Kings’ De’Aaron Fox going to Spurs and Bulls’ Zach LaVine to the Kings

Another blockbuster trade involving Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and the Chicago Bulls, this was reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The three-team trade will bring De’Aaron Fox going to Spurs, Bulls’ Zach LaVine to the Kings and Three Spurs will go to the Bulls.

Here’s a breakdown of the trade;

  • Jordan McLaughlin

Sacramento Kings get:

  • Zach LaVine
  • Sidy Cissoko
  • 2025 first-round pick (via Hornets)
  • 2027 first-round pick (via Spurs)
  • 2031 first-round pick (via Timberwolves)
  • 2025 second-round pick (via Nuggets)
  • 2028 second-round pick (via Bulls)
  • Their own 2028 second-round pick

Chicago Bulls get:

  • Zach Collins
  • Tre Jones
  • Kevin Huerter
  • Their own 2025 1st-round pick (via Spurs)

Kelsey Mitchell resigns with the Indiana Fever

It looks like Indiana will have it’s core player for this year as Kelsey Mitchell resigns with the Fever. This will be Mitchell’s 8th season with the franchise, who drafted her as the second overall pick in the 2018 WNBA draft.
