Confirmed! There will be an Eraserheads Reunion Concert

After teasing their fans, Eraserheads Frontman Ely Buendia confirmed that there will be an Eraserheads Reunion Concert, which will be held at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque City, on December 22, 2022. Details such as ticket sales date and price will announce soon.

Dubbed as “Huling El Bimbo” this will be the follow up concert to their ‘The Final Set’ concert in March 2009, which is a dedicated to Francis Magalona, who died days before the concert and was supposed to be a special surprise guest. Their 2008 reunion concert on the other hand was cut short when Ely was rushed to the hospital due to chest pains caused by hypokalemia.

Could there be an Eraserheads reunion?

All 4 members of the icon Filipino band posted the same cryptic image on their social media, could this the long awaited Eraserheads reunion that we have been waiting for? Eraserheads Frontman Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala (bass), Marcus Adoro (lead guitar) and Raymund Marasigan (drummer) all posted on their IG account an image of the band’s logo – a backwards “E” – at around the same time.

Ely Buendia and Raymund Marasigan did not include any caption, while Buddy Zabala included “Let me hear you sing it.” – a line from their hit song with a Smile; Marcus Adoro on the other hand posted “Et me er u eng et” which more or less means nothing or a lot depending on how to decode it.

It’s anyone’s guess on what their posts means and I’m betting that this could be Ely fulfilling his promise that there will an Eheads reunion when then VP Leni run for public office.

Ely Buendia tweets a “possible” Eheads reunion “Pag tumakbo si Leni”

In a Twitter Q&A as part of promotions for “SUPERPROXIES,” a virtual concert featuring Buendia and Filipino indie rock band Nobody’s Home this October 9th, eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia just broke the internet by hinting of a “possible” Eheads reunion if VP Leni Robredo ‘runs’, though he did not clarify on what position.

The tweet is in response to Ben La Dean (@jaydemaps), who asked him regarding a possible Eheads reunion. Ely, candidly and jokingly, replied “Pag tumakbo si Leni.”

Ely’s tweet have been trending and gone viral receiving 34.9 likes, 6,241 retweets and 2,264 quote tweets.

Here are some of the response that Ely’s tweet got from VP Leni’s supporters and Eraserheads fans;

Ely later clarified that his political views and opinions are his own.

This is the invite that Raymund Marasigan receives for ‘El Bimbo’ musical gala

In the same IG post, Raymund clarifies that he is not part or knows anyone in production of the musical, permission was already settled by the publisher and they don’t need Raymund any member of the Eraserhead’s permission. Raymund cannot come to the musical gala, since he has (two) prior commitments to attend to.

“Ang El Bimbo” is one of Eraserhead’s greatest hit and where the musical is based. I’ve embedded the music video of the song below.
