YouTube, iWant and iflix to reduce video quality during Enchanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) – NTC

In a press release by National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), YouTube, iWant & Iflix will limit the video streaming quality in order to ease data congestion due to work-from-home setup by employers and the increase in demands during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Google already announced that they will set the default settings to SD Quality, while iFlix has initially set a cap in its streaming service. No content can be streamed at 4k resolution. iWant on the other hand said that it has reduced the streaming bitrate by 33% which started last March 27th.
