Know which areas in the Philippines that will be under ECQ, GCQ and MGCQ

As of July 17, 2020, Metro Manila and areas listed below will remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) until June 30. It is still unclear if they will automatically be downgraded to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Cebu City was reverted back to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ),the strictest level of lockdown, last June 16. The rest of the country has been downgraded to modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Provinces that will be under GCQ until June 30 are as follows;

Luzon

  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Santiago City
  • Aurora
  • Bataan
  • Bulacan
  • Tarlac
  • Olongapo City
  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Quezon
  • Occidental Mindoro

Visayas

  • Bohol
  • Cebu
  • Negros Oriental
  • Siquijor
  • Mandaue City
  • Lapu-Lapu City

Mindanao

  • Davao City

Philippines crosses the 27k mark for the confirmed coronavirus cases

There are now more than 27 thousands confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, this was confirmed by the Department of Health (DoH) on Wednesday, June 17.

DoH reports that there were 457 new cases on Wednesday, making the total confirmed cases to 27,238. Out of those 27K, 268 recovered on Wednesday, raising the total number of recoveries to 6,820. Then there were 5 new deaths on Wednesday, making the total death toll to 1,108.

YouTube, iWant and iflix to reduce video quality during Enchanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) – NTC

In a press release by National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), YouTube, iWant & Iflix will limit the video streaming quality in order to ease data congestion due to work-from-home setup by employers and the increase in demands during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

Google already announced that they will set the default settings to SD Quality, while iFlix has initially set a cap in its streaming service. No content can be streamed at 4k resolution. iWant on the other hand said that it has reduced the streaming bitrate by 33% which started last March 27th.
