Pacers eliminate Cavs to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals (114 – 105)

The Indiana Pacers have once again showed us that they’re one of the top franchise in the Eastern Conference, by eliminating the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers with a final score of 114-105 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semi-final series. This will be the second consecutive year the Pacers have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, a feat they haven’t achieved in more than a decade.

Despite a strong start from the Cavaliers, the Pacers rallied from a 19-point deficit in the second quarter, took control in the third, and built a 12-point lead after halftime. Notably, the Pacers won all three games at Clevelandโ€™s homecourt in the series.

Tyrese Haliburton led the charge for Indiana with 31 points, including five crucial three-pointers in the second quarter that sparked the Pacers’ comeback. Haliburton also grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 8 assists. Pascal Siakam contrrbuted a solid 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Donovan Mitchell, playing through left ankle injury, led the Cavaliers with a game-high 35 points and 9 rebounds, while Evan Mobley added 24 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Cavaliers struggled with their shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, converting only 9 of their 35 three-point attempts. The Pacers’ defense tightened in the 3rd quater, limiting the Cavaliers’ to just 20 points against the Pacers’ 33 points.

The Pacers now await the winner of the other Eastern Conference semi-final matchup between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks.

Cavs routs Warriors by making 8 three-pointers in the third quarter (113 – 95)

This was supposed to be a revenge game by the Warriors after the Cavs gave them one of their worst loss early in the season but it looks like little has changes, since the Cavs gave the Warriors another beating.

Unlike the first game, it was a competitive first half with an 8-point lead by the Cavs at the start of the 3rd qtr. Then Cleveland went on a 20 to 5 run creating a 22-points lead and basically ending the game with still 7:43 mins time left in the 3rd.

Donovan Mitchell lead the Cavs in their 3rd qtr run making 5 three-points, he ended the game with 23 points and 4 assists. Darius Garland lead the team with 25 points and 8 assists. Jarrett Allen added 12 points and 9 rebounds, including a nasty dunk in the 4 mins mark of the 3rd qtr.

The Warriors struggled to find any rhythm in the third quarter, both offensively and defensively. Steph Curry was limited by the Cavaliers to just 11 points and was scoreless in the second quarter. Jonathan Kuminga led the Warriors with 18 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Trayce Jackson-Davis with 16 points and 16 rebounds. The Warriors have lost 13 of their last 17 games, after starting the season 12-3. They are currently tied with the San Antonio Spurs for 9th/10th place.

Cleveland will visit the Los Angeles Lakers Tuesday night, while the Golden State will hosts Philadelphia this Thursday evening.

Cleveland Cavaliers routs Golden State Warriors to remain undefeated 136 – 117

The Cavs secured their 10th straight win after handing the Warriors their second and their worst loss in a young NBA season. The game was technically over once the Cavs ended the first with a 41-point lead.

It was basically a 3-point shootout and the Cavs won by making 20 of their 42 three-points shots, compare to just 13 made three-points by the Warriors.

Cavs was lead by Darius Garland with 27 points, making 6 of 11 three-points, with 6 assists. Cavs leading scorer Donovan Mitchell added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, Evan Mobley had a 23 points.

Warriors leading scorer Steph Curry just scored 12 points, while Draymond Green only manage to score 6 point, grabbed 2 rebounds and 6 assists. Jonathan Kuminga lead the team with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, then Brandin Podziemski manage to score 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists performance by . By half-time, most of the Warriors starters are playing with limited minutes in the 3rd and no longer playing by 4th period. You can check-out the box score for the game here.

Warriors will wrap-up their 5-game road trip this Sunday as they visit Oklahoma, while the Cavs will host the Nets this Saturday night.

Jordan Clarkson cleared by NBA to play for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia

NBA backtracked its decision to not allow Cleveland Guard Jordan Clarkson to play for the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games.

On their official statement, NBA said “Due to a lack of clear communication of that agreement between the NBA and the Chinese and Philippines Basketball Federations, and after further discussions with both Federations, the NBA has agreed to provide this one-time exception,”

The same “one-time exception” was also be given to Chinese NBA players Zhou Qi of the Houston Rockets and Ding Yanyuhang of the Dallas Mavericks.

Jordan Clarkson is currently traveling to Indonesia but won’t be able to join the Philippine team in their first game, since he is expected to arrive in Jakarta at 10 a.m. of Thursday, which is the same day the Philippines kicks off its game against Kazakhstan.

Jordan Clarkson also posted this on his Facebook account.

NBA Finals Schedule

Cavs and the Warriors will meet in NBA Finals for the fourth consecutive year. Just like last year, Cavs will be the underdog and who could blame them. I expect this to be a quick series.

Cleveland Cavaliers defeats the Boston Celtics (87-79) in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals

Lebron James is one assist away from a triple-double. They will face the winner between the Houston Rocket and Golden State Warriors.

Boston Celtics defeats Cleveland Cavaliers (96-83) to take a 3-2 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals

Boston Celtics are one win away from ending James’ dominance in the East.

Houston Rockets destroyed the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 120 – 88 win

ESPN;

The Houston Rockets played beautiful basketball Saturday night, and they destroyed the Cavs 120-88. Chris Paul was a maestro from the opening moments; it was a display of the reason why the Rockets are brilliant when he and MVP candidate James Harden are so great together (now 23-3 when both guards start). Paul was a breathtaking plus-47 for the night. The score probably could’ve been anything Paul wanted it to be.

The statement above probably sums up the whole game. Lebron James did not have his usual numbers, after playing for 31 minutes he only have 12 pts, 9 rebounds and 9 assists, and even though they got some individual contribution from Rose and Wade (both with 10 pts), Thomas (12 pts) and Smith (12 pts), as a team the Cavs are lethargic on both ends of the floor.

Rockets will visit Brooklyn, while the Cavs will go to Orlando on Tuesday. Hopefully the two days rest will allow the Cavs to regroup.
