Alyssa Valdez will be seeing action in the coming SEA Games, after being named as the team captain for the National Women’s Volleyball squad for the Cambodia 2023 Southeast Asian Games this 5th to 17th of May 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Allysa Valdez will lead a 14-woman squad that also features her Creamline teammates Jia De Guzman, Michele Gumabao, Jema Galanza, Kyla Atienza, Ced Domingo, and current conference MVP Tots Carlos. Also with the team are; Cignal’s Maria Angelica Cayuna and Glaudine Troncoso, PLDT’s Kathleen Faith Arado and Dell Palomata, Choco Mucho’s Cherry Rose Nunag and Katrina Mae Tolentino; and Chery Tiggo’s Mylene Paat.
The Women’s national team will be coached by Brazilian Jorge Edson Souza De Brito. Allysa Valdez who have been inactive from the sports due to a knee injury, is hoping that she’ll be at 100% healthy by the time the National Women’s Volleyball team competes in the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
Alyssa Valdez and the rest of the team will try and establish Philippines as one of the volleyball heavyweights in the region, since the last time National Women’s Volleyball won a medal (bronze) was in 2005 SEA games headed by Heidi Illustre and Diane Pascua.
Together with the National Women’s Volleyball team, the lineup for the National Men’s Volleyball team bound for Cambodia 2023 Southeast Asian Games have been announced as well.
The team captain will be none other than Vince Raphael Mangulabnan, he will be with his AMC-Cotabato teammates Joshua Umandal, Lloyd Josafat, Kim Harold Dayandante, Vince Patrick Lorenzo and Jayvee Sumagaysay. Also with the squad are National University-Archipelago Builders’s Rwenzmel Taguibolos and Leo Ordiales, Cignal’s, Manuel Sumanguid III, Iloilo’s Jade Alex Disquitado and University of Santo Tomas’s Jay Rack Dela Noche. Filipino-Americans Steven Charles Rotter, Cyrus Justin De Guzman and Michael Raymund Vicente will complete the 14-man roster and the National Men’s Volleyball team will be coached by Sergio Valadares Veloso, also a Brazilian.
Alnakran Abdilla, Jaron Requinton, Jude Garcia and James Buytrago make up the men’s team of the beach volleyball squads coached by Joao Luciano Simao Barbosa.
The men’s volleyball coaching staff includes Arthur Odjie Mamon assistant coach), Rommel Abella (assistant coach), Mark Gil Alfafara (trainer), Melchizedek Samonte (strength and conditioning coach) and Jerome Guhit (team manager).
Sherwin Meneses (assistant coach), Cherry Rose Macatangay (assistant coach) Raffy Mosuela (trainer), Grace Gomez (strength and conditioning coach) and Ma. Fe Moran (team manager) complete the women’s team coaching staff.
