Watch this Nike video on Behind the Design of the Caitlin 1

Nike just released a behind-the-scenes video about the design process for the Caitlin 1. In it, Caitlin Clark shares what she wanted in her debut signature shoe, alongside insights from Nike Basketball’s Alex Zerzan (Product Line Manager) and Ben Nethongkome (Footwear Designer) on bringing the vision to life.

In their official press release, Nike said “The Caitlin 1 is Nike athlete Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe, built around the speed, range and unpredictability that make her extraordinary performances seem downright ordinary.”

There are currently at least 12 confirmed colorways for the Nike Caitlin 1, led by the “Racer Blue” and “Yellow Zest” debut pairs. The shoe launches in China on September 24 and globally on October 1 at nike.com and select retailers with a retail price of $140.

The Caitlin 1 is built for players who need reliable grip, a quick feel underfoot and a secure fit for creating space on indoor courts. Its cushioning, supportive upper and multidirectional outsole work together to help athletes move confidently through cuts, step-backs, takeoffs and landings.

Inspired by Caitlin Clark’s ability to stay one step ahead, her first signature basketball shoe was developed by studying the moves that make her elite and refining each detail alongside her. The result is a lightweight silhouette made for fast decisions and precise footwork.

Air Zoom Turbo helps players push off quickly and rise comfortably into a shot, while Cushlon foam softens impact without feeling unstable. The Nike Opticast upper holds the foot securely through sudden changes of direction while allowing airflow during extended play. Underfoot, a fanning traction pattern provides multidirectional grip for sharp cuts, step-backs and quick stops on indoor courts.

Performance benefits in the Caitlin 1:

• Reliable grip through multidirectional movement.
• A quick, cushioned feel underfoot.
• A secure fit for cuts and changes of direction.
• Stable landings and confident transitions.

How the Caitlin 1 Helps You Play:

• Accelerate into open space with less impact underfoot.
• Stay planted when stopping or changing direction.
• Keeps your foot secure without adding unnecessary weight.
• Maintain grip through lateral cuts, step-backs and takeoffs.

Caitlin Clark Debuts Vibrant Nike ‘Yellow Zest’ Signature Shoe at Crypto.com Arena

Caitlin Clark gave fans a first look at the Nike “Yellow Zest” colorway of her signature shoes Caitlin 1 during Wednesday’s shootaround at Crypto.com Arena. This iteration of her signature shoe features a bold yellow upper, racer blue detailing, and her signature No. 22 stamped on the heel. Retailing for $140, the pair drops in Holiday 2026.

Clark celebrated the preview by draining a pre-game money shot in her Fever gear, though Indiana later dropped the matchup to the Sparks 106-92, fueled by a 24-point performance from Nneka Ogwumike.

Dream’s Angel Reese Clinches Rare Win Over Caitlin Clark Despite Big 3 Outburst and ‘Caitlin 1’ Debut (108 -101)

The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese added a thrilling new chapter during a high-stakes showdown between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream. In a dramatic, high-scoring battle, the Dream walked away with a tight 108-101 victory. For Reese—who joined Atlanta earlier in the 2026 season—this marked a rare and massive head-to-head victory over Clark, breaking a dominant stretch of head-to-head wins by the Fever guard.

Despite the loss, Indiana’s “Big 3” put on an absolute clinic. With Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Kelsey Mitchell firing on all cylinders, the Fever stayed highly competitive throughout the entire game, proving why they are one of the most dangerous trios in the league. Together, the three stars accounted for 75 of Indiana’s 101 total points. Clark led the way with 26 points, 7 assists, and 2 rebounds, while Mitchell matched her with 26 points of her own. Meanwhile, Boston anchored the paint, stuffing the stat sheet with 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks.

However, the Atlanta Dream countered with an elite, balanced attack where all five starters scored in double digits. The charge was led by Reese, who anchored the paint with 21 points and 11 rebounds on 8-of-14 shooting to secure her 10th double-double of the season. Alongside her, Jordin Canada orchestrated the offense seamlessly to push the pace, finishing with 18 points. Rhyne Howard provided the crucial backcourt execution to close out the fourth quarter, delivering 16 points and 6 assists while hitting critical, back-to-back buckets late to stifle the Fever’s comeback.

Adding to the historic and play-off athmosphere of the night, the game served as the official on-court debut of Clark’s highly anticipated first signature sneaker, the Nike Caitlin 1. While the Dream spoiled the Clark’s sneaker maiden voyage, the combination of elite hoops, a rare Reese victory, and fresh sneaker history made this an unforgettable night for women’s basketball.
