On this day in NBA history, Michael Jordan delivered one of the greatest scoring performances the game has ever seen.
In Game 2 of the 1986 First Round, a 23-year-old Jordan exploded for a playoff-record 63 points against the Boston Celtics, pushing the eventual NBA champions to double overtime. He finished with 22 made field goals and 21 free throw attempts, as two Celtics fouled out trying to contain him.
Despite the Chicago Bulls falling 135-131, the performance became instantly legendary.
After the game, Larry Bird said it best:
“I think he’s God disguised as Michael Jordan.”

As good as the Celtics were from the three-point line in the first round, Boston went cold from beyond the arc, making only 10 of their 40 three-point attempts. They only made 2 three-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored just 4 points in the last 5:05 of the game, while the Knicks scored 10 points in the same period. Overall, the Knicks limited the Celtics to just 17 points while scoring 30 points in the final period.

Here’s the final 6:35 of Game 2 of the 2025 NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Next for the Warriors is they head to Cleveland to face the Cavs, the remaining undefeated team in the NBA, and the Celtics will host the Brooklyn Nets both this Friday night.
After a dominant season, the Boston Celtics are back on top of the NBA mountain. With a convincing 4-1 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in the Finals, the Celtics secured their 18th championship title, etching their name in history as the winningest franchise in NBA history.

Jayson Tatum, finally hoisting his first Larry O’Brien trophy, delivered a masterful performance throughout the playoffs, culminating in a phenomenal 31-point, 11-assist and 8 rebounds in the clinching Game 5. Tatum wasn’t alone. Jaylen Brown, the newly crowned Finals MVP, proved himself to be an unstoppable force on both ends of the court, averaging over 23.9 points per game in the Finals series. Then there’s Jrue Holiday, who finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Center Kristaps Porzingis who provided the emotional anchor after missing the game 3 and 4 because of a dislocated tendon in his left ankle, he chipped-in five points in 17 minutes.

The win capped off a dominant series sweep for the Celtics, showcasing their resilience and championship mettle. The Pacers, however, shouldn’t leave empty-handed. They pushed the Celtics to the limit, especially in a nail-biting fourth quarter of Game 4.
It was a close game, with both teams trading baskets and neither side able to establish a significant lead. The largest lead for either team was 9 points. Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 29 points, while Jayson Tatum chipped in with 26 points. Jalen Brown wins the Larry Bird Eastern Conference Finals MVP. As for the Pacers, Andrew Nembhard had a monstrous double-double with 24 points and 10 assists with 6 rebounds, while Pascal Siakam added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Pacers missed the services of star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who was sidelined by a left hamstring injury.
The final minutes of the game were a heart-stopping display of clutch plays. With the score tied and seconds remaining, Jalen Brown found Derek White for a 23-foot three-point jumper that sealed the win for Boston. The Pacers had a chance to respond, but their final shot attempt fell short.

They’ll now await their opponent, who will be determined in the ongoing Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Bill Walton is a two-time NBA champion; 1976–77 season with the Portland Trail Blazers, also named Finals MVP, and 1984–85 season with Boston Celtics, earning the sixth man award. Walton is a member of both the NBA’s 50th anniversary and 75th anniversary teams. For his college career, he is a two-time champion at UCLA and a three-time national player of the year.
Tributes are pouring in from across the basketball community. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver called Walton “truly one of a kind,” while former teammate Larry Bird described him as a “great friend” and “a thrill to play with.”

Jonathan Kuminga also made a number of hustle plays to give the Warriors the lead in OT. Boston on the other hand couldn’t make any basket even if the Warriors gifted them 3 offensive rebounds and four shots at the end of the 4th qtr.

Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul were able to play off the bench, Paul scoring 9 points but was instrumental in the Warriors run after making 7 consecutive points, late in the 3rd, he finished with a team high 12 assists and 7 rebds. All-Star guard and NBA Champion Jrue Holiday has been traded to the Boston Celtics. The trade took place just less than a week after the Bucks sent Holiday to Portland that got them Daim Lillard.
In the trade, Portland TrailBlazers will receive Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, 2024 1st-round pick (via Warriors) and an 2029 unprotected 1st-round pick (via Celtics), while the Celtics will get Jrue Holiday.
The trade signals that the Blazers are indeed in rebuilding phase with a mix of youth and veteran, which will accelerate the development of the Blazer’s young core headed by Scoot Henderson, the third overall pick in this year’s draft.
Jrue Holiday on the Celtics will make the team a contender in the East, together with teh Bucks, he’e perfect with Brown and Tatum, since he is a two-way guard that can facilitate, create his own shot and can play off ball, and also his championship experience which will surely be a big help for the Boston Celtics in the Playoffs.

Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat will go to the NBA Finals after routing the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference. The Heat closeout the series after Boston even the series by winning 3 games in a row after losing the first 3 games to Miami. It was a historic game for both team; Miami Heat trying to avoid to be the first team to lose a series after being up 3 – 0 and become the first 8th seed to defeat a 1st seed in order to advance to the NBA Finals; while Boston is trying to complete their historic run to be the first NBA team to overcome a 0 – 3 deficit in the NBA Postseason.
Boston leading scorer Jason Tatum was a non-factor in Game 7, after twisting his ankle on the very first play of the game and limping through 42 minutes. Tatum scored 14 points with 11 rebounds, while Jalen Brown had 19-pts, 8 rebs and 5 assists and Derrick White, the hero of Game 6, was the second leading scorer for the Celtics with his 18-points.

Miami Heat will face the Denver Nuggets who have been waiting for the winner of the series after sweeping the LA Lakers in the 2023 NBA Western Conference Finals.
Game 1 of the NBA finals will this 1st of June in Denver.
The Boston Celtics are on the verge of making NBA history as they force a “winner-take-all” Game 7 against the Miami Heat after losing the first 3 games of the series.
Miami Heat are just 3 seconds away from their second trip to the NBA finals in 4 years, after Jimmy Butler made all 3 of his free-throw, but Derrick White had other plans instead as he beat the buzzer with a putback to force a Game 7 in the 2023 NBA Eastern Conference finals. Derrick White only scored 11 points on a 4 of 10, where 3 shots are from beyond the arc and his last and only field goal in the paint is the most important one. Jason Tatum once again lead the Boston Celtics, scoring 31 points with 12 rebs and 2 blocks. Jalen Brown has 26 points and Marcus Smart, whose shot is the one that White tipped-in, scored 21 points but -10 in the plus/minus department.

Despite the pressure that the team will face in Boston, Jimmy Butler is still confident that they will close the series in Boston. “We’ve got to go on the road and do something special.. “But we’ve got a special group.” Butler said in his postgame interview. Butler lead the Heat in scoring 24 points with 11 rebs and 8 assists, followed by Calen Martin’s 21 points, with 4 from the three-point line, and 15 rebs. Gabe Vincent, Bam Adebayo and Max Strus were also a big help in the game by scoring 15 pts, 11 pts and 10 points, respectively.
This was a game that Heat should have won, since Boston shot only 20% from beyond the arc, compare to the 46% from Miami. Game 7 will be in Boston, which could be a replay of last year’s East Conference Finals or we would be watching a totally different movie.

In another shooting clinic, the Boston Celtics easily dispatch the Miami Heat at home to further extend the series to game 6 and putting more pressure to Jimmy Butler and company to close the series in Miami.
Four Boston players scored more than 20-pts with at least 1 three-points made. Derrick White lead the Celtics with 24-pts, making 6 of 8 three-points shot. Jason Tatum once again made sure that his teammates are in the game by dishing a team-high 11 assists, he also scored 21 pts and 8 rebs. Smart and Brown also chipped-in scoring 23 points and 21 points, respectively. As good as their offense, it was their defense that won the game for Boston. As a team the Boston Celtics made 13 steals, 37 rebounds and 4 blocks with just 9 turnover.

Miami’s leading scorer is Duncan Robinson with 18 points and 9 assists. Bam Adebayo added 16 points and eight rebounds but -15 in the plus/minus. Caleb Martin finished with 14 points, while Gabe Vincent sat out of the game due to an ankle injury.

The 1st round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs ended with a convincing victory for the Boston Celtics over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6.
The Celtics dominated the 2nd of the game after a close 1st half, leading by as much as 8 points with a little more than 2-mins in the game. The Hawks are lead by Trae Young who had 30 points and 10 assists but missed 12 of 13 shots over the final two quarters.

The Hawks tried to mount a comeback to force a game 7, but the Celtics were prepared to take on any run by Hawks.
Former-Hawks Horford hit a huge 3-pointer to keep the Atlanta at bay. Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum led the Celtics, contributing 32 and 30 points, respectively. Al Horford chipped 10 points, 12 rebounds two steals and three blocks.

Jordan Brand just announced the first signature shoes of Boston forward Jason Tatum – the Tatum 1. In their official announcement, the Tatum 1 is the lightest performance shoe in Jordan Brand’s performance line this season.
The Tatum 1 is built out of a lightweight, strong TPU frame, the shoe is wrapped by a ground-contact foam that also acts as an integrated traction pattern, with minimal rubber on the toe and ball of the foot for Tatum’s predominantly forefoot game. This detail allowed designers to cut back on the weight of the shoe while also providing tight court feel. A large, uncaged Zoom Air bag in the forefoot helps provide high energy return without sacrificing court feel. The mesh knit upper is strong yet lightweight, while the collar is padded for ankle support.

The shoe will also include as an apparel collection; hoodies and tees for men, women and kids, inspired by the Zoo and Barbershop colorways of the Tatum 1. The Tatum 1 will be available at Nike.com and at select Jordan retailers for $120, this 7th of April in full family sizing.
Jason Tatum wore the Tatum 1s at the 2023 NBA All Star Games, he was later named the 2023 Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP and scored a new All-Star record 55 points.
