Stephen Curry scores 33 points, to carry the Warriors over Celtics in OT (132-126 )

Steph Curry even with 5-personal fouls and being targeted by the Boston offense, he played the entirety of the 4th qtr and OT, in those 17 mins, he scored a total of 20 points, on his way to scoring 33 points with 6 assists and helped the Warriors overcome a 17-point deficit middle of the 3rd qtr.

Klay Thompson, the other half of the Splash Brothers, scored 24 points with 4 rebounds and 4 assists, he also hit a timely three-point to tie the game with 2:18 remaining in regulation. Jonathan Kuminga also made a number of hustle plays to give the Warriors the lead in OT. Boston on the other hand couldn’t make any basket even if the Warriors gifted them 3 offensive rebounds and four shots at the end of the 4th qtr.

Warriors rookie guard Brandin Podziemski left the game in the second half due to a strained lower back and did not return to the game. Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul were able to play off the bench, Paul scoring 9 points but was instrumental in the Warriors run after making 7 consecutive points, late in the 3rd, he finished with a team high 12 assists and 7 rebds. Rookie Trayce Jackson Davis also played big making the most of the playing time that Coach Steve Kerr is giving him. Jackson-Davis finished with 10 pts, team high 13 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Boston Celtics have multiple opportunities to secure the game but could not make any bucket; missing 4 shots by the end of regulation that could have given them the lead and key plays in the final minutes of OT.

Boston starters are all in double-figures, with Derrick White scoring a team high of 30 points, making 7-of-18 from beyond the arc, he also grabbed 7 rebounds. Followed by Jalen Brown’s 28 points, 8 rebs and 7 assists, while Jason Tatum added 15 points, 8 rebs and 7 assists.

Warriors will improved their standings to 13-14, a game behind the Suns for the 10th place in the West, while the Celtics will fall 20-6, still the number 1 team in the East and 2nd in the league.

Boston will go to Sacramento on Wednesday night, while the Warriors will host Washington on Friday night, while will be Jordan Poole’s first game back to the Chase Center after being traded to the Wizards in the off season.

Golden State Warrior routs Boston in Game 2 of the 2022 NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors evens the series by winning game 2 of the NBA Finals. Much like Game 1, the Warriors had their patented 3rd quarter game by out scoring the Boston Celtics 35 to 14 but unlike their 4th qtr breakdown in game 1, the Warriors held on to finish 107-88.

Steph Curry was leading the Warrior with his 29 pts, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, getting plenty of help from Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggin, who scored 11 pts a piece, Kevon Looney with his 12 pts (6/6 field goal) and Jordan Poole contributing 17 points, and had his moments in the closing minutes of the 3rd quarter, most notably that buzzer beater at half court.

As a team, the Golden State Warriors shot 45.3% (39/86) from the field with 40.5% (15/37) from beyond the arc and just 12 turnover.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics as a team had similar stats with 37.5% field goal, and 40.5% three-point shooting, the difference is with their 19 turnover, that Warriors converted to 33 points.

Jason Tatum scored 21 of his 28 points in the first half for Boston, while Horford, Smart and White, the heroes of the previous game, were a none-factor in the “offense” for Boston in game 2. In Game 1, Al Horford contributed 26 points, 75% FG and 75% from the three-point line, while Marcus Smart scored 18 points with 57% 3-point shooting and Derrick White chipped-in 21-pts on a 62% shooting from beyond the arc.

The next two games will now shift to Boston, where the Warriors try to swing the home-court back in their favor. Game 3 will this Wednesday, June 8th.
