The ban for Discord has now been lifted, according to the statement released by the Philippines’ Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

In their statement, “The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) have lifted the temporary ban on Discord following the platform’s commitment to concrete measures to strengthen online safety and protect Filipino children.”

The decision to lift the ban was made after a meeting between Philippine government officials and senior Discord representatives, including its Regional Director for APAC Public Policy and Government Affairs and its Senior Public Policy Advisor for the Asia-Pacific region.

DICT Secretary Henry R. Aguda emphasized that the government’s actions are grounded in the responsibility to protect Filipino children while ensuring that digital platforms remain accountable for the safety of their users.

“We respect freedom of expression, but these rights must never become a shield for predators and groomers. If you operate in the Philippines, Filipino children are your responsibility too. Do not mistake distance for immunity. We welcome innovation, but access comes with a responsibility,” Aguda added.

The temporary ban was imposed to protect Filipino children and communities and to ensure that the serious concerns raised by the government were met with concrete action. With Discord now committing to the measures discussed with the government, the DICT and CICC have lifted the ban.
