FIBA introduces LED Basketball court

Basketball fans may soon see a different kind of basketball court as FIBA introduced the first ever LED glass flooring, it premiered at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023 in Madrid.

The LED glass court will feature full video floor that allows for interactive applications, as well as other benefits. For example, the court is much brighter than a traditional basketball court, which makes it easier for players to see the ball and the court markings. It can also feature player tracking to the video floor, display live stats and athletic achievements on the floor, providing fans with enhanced interaction and better engagement as well as an enhanced show staging with additional options for sponsorship and marketing.

Additionally, the court is also more durable than a traditional court, which means that it will last longer and require less maintenance.

FIBA already approved the used of LED Glass court developed by ASB GlassFloor for events it oversees and the one that they used in the 2021 Ruhr Games in Bochum and 3×3 basketball in Germany. NBA is already using On-Court Projection Mapping and may just be a matter of time before we see an LED Glass Basketball court.
