Three Killed, 36 Injured in Attacks Targeting Two Saudi Airports

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed that Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh were targeted in two separate attacks on October 6 and 7, 2026, leaving three people dead and 36 others injured.

According to an official statement issued by GACA, emergency response teams and relevant authorities immediately activated established emergency protocols and plans following the strikes.

The attack at Abha International Airport resulted in two fatalities. GACA identified the deceased as female residents of Moroccan and Algerian nationalities. An additional 28 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to critical, including Saudi citizens as well as Bangladeshi and Filipino residents.

At King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, one fatality was reported—a male resident of Sudanese nationality. Eight others were injured, comprising five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and one Pakistani resident.

GACA stated that all injured individuals were promptly transported to hospitals to receive appropriate medical care. Both attacks also caused physical property damage at the airport facilities.

“GACA is working in coordination with the relevant authorities to assess the damage, verify the safety of the facilities, and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and maintain the security and safety of operations within the Kingdom’s civil aviation system,” the authority said.
