Saudi Arabia extends curfew to 3:00 PM

Three days after imposing a curfew, Saudi government announced that the curfew will now extend to 3:00 Pm in the afternoon from the previous time of 7:00 PM.

The new curfew time took effect today, March 26, 2020, as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 1,012. There were also reports that a curfew violators have been apprehended in the Eastern region of the country.

The new curfew time will not affect the previously reported exemption like “employees of the security, military and media sectors, and workers in the sensitive health and service sectors.”

Angkas introduces Angkas Food, a food delivery service to help their riders

Angkas, the ride-sharing motorcycle company, just introduced Angkas Food, a food delivery service wherein the riders will keep 100% of the delivery fees. Angkas said that this is their way of helping their drivers earn a living in this time of COVID-19.

The delivery fee will be Php60 on the first KM and Php10 in the succeeding kilometer up to 5 km.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will now take place no later than summer 2021.

Due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee have decided to reschedule the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games from the previously planned 2020 games to a date that will not be later than the summer of 2021.

In a joint statement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee said;

The unprecedented and unpredictable spread of the outbreak has seen the situation in the rest of the world deteriorating. Yesterday, the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the COVID-19 pandemic is “accelerating”. There are more than 375,000 cases now recorded worldwide and in nearly every country, and their number is growing by the hour.

In the present circumstances and based on the information provided by the WHO today, the IOC President and the Prime Minister of Japan have concluded that the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community.

This will be the first time that the Olympics is reschedule, it was cancelled thrice due to war but never a pandemic. The 2021 will give every participating country and athletes enough time to heal and get back to training. It was also agreed that “the Olympic flame will stay in Japan and that the Games will keep the name Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.”

Philippine Embassy Advisory on the Imposition of Curfew in KSA

With the recent announcement of the nation-wide curfew, the Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia also released an advisory for the OFW in the country.

The advisory provided additional information on the imposed curfew and encourages OFW in the Kingdom to stay at home to prevent the further spreading of COVID-19.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh also deleted the advisory that they released yesterday regarding “the new rule from Saudi Government that all shops except supermarket and medical store will only be open from 6 am to 8 pm.”

In an effort to slowdown the spread of the highly contagious novel coronavirus or COVID-19, the Saudi Arabian government has mpose a kingdom-wide curfew for 21 days, which started today, Monday, March 23, 2020.

The curfew will be for the “health and safety of citizens and expatriates” within the Kingdom. Exempted from the curfew “are the employees of the security, military and media sectors, and workers in the sensitive health and service sectors.” The Saudi government released a separate announcement providing additional information on the “Curfews’ Exceptions.” you read the full text of the announcement here.

The Saudi Government is also urging everyone to stay at home during the curfew period and not to leave unless it is extremely necessary.

The curfew was impose a day after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reported that there have been more than 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Arab News: Saudi Arabia now have 511 Confirmed Cases of COVID-19

There are now 511 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a report by Arab News, “Saudi Health Ministry spokesman Mohammed Abdelali said that 72 of the newly diagnosed people were Turkish nationals under quarantine in the holy city of Makkah after interacting with an infected compatriot.”

Google launches COVID-19 website

Google has officially launch the controversial COVID-19 website.

The site (https://www.google.com/covid19/) is a United States-focused website that contains information about the virus, guidance, testing and other information that will help in slowing the spread of the coronavirus, highly contagious virus at as of this posting has affected 185 countries, 267,013 of confirmed case and more than 11,000 of confirmed deaths.

The site became a hot pic when President Donald Trump said a site where people could check symptoms, arrange a test, and get test results was coming from Google, but was actually referring to a much more limited site from Google sister company Verily.

Temporary suspension of regular consular services at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh

Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is temporarily suspending all their regular consular services in view of the measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19). Exempted from the suspension are emergencies like issuance of travel documents in case of death, medical emergencies and release of passports.

Apple announces new Ipad Pro with LiDAR Scanner and new Magic Keyboard with Trackpad

Apple has announce a new iPad Pro with LiDAR Scanner and support for new magic keyboard and trackpad. The new iPad Pro was announced with the new Macbook Air.

The new iPad Pro is available in two sized – 11-inch and 12.9-inch, it features P3 wide color support, a display refresh rate up to 120 Hz, True Tone, high brightness and an anti-reflective coating.

The new iPad Pro is powered by Apple’s A12Z Bionic chip, it has dual-camera setup that’s compose of a wide camera and an ultra-wide camera. Apple also included a LiDAR Scanner that when used with the dual-cameras, motion sensors, computing power and audio is perfect for augmented reality (AR).

In addition to the new internals, Apple also introduced a new Smart Keyboard Folio with the new Magic Keyboard and the second generation Apple Pencil. The new Magic Keyboard, that attached to the iPad magnetically, has a full-sized keyboard with backlit keys and a trackpad. Apple announces a new version of Macbook Air with new Magic Keyboard

Apple just announce a new Macbook Air. The company said that the new laptop is twice as powerful as the previous model and 80% faster graphics.

The new Macbook Air will have a 13.3-inch Retina display with IPS technology and a 2560-by-1600 native resolution. It features 10th-generation Intel Core processors up to 1.2GHz quad-core Core i7 with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.8GHz.

It will be using the new Magic Keyboard, which was first introduced with the 16-inches MacBook Pro. Apple also increased the storage of the base model of the new Macbook Air, instead of the 128 GB, the storage now starts at 256GB of storage, which can be configure up to 2TB SSD. On the memory side, the base model comes with an 8GB RAM and can be configure up to 16 GB RAM. The new Macbook Air will run MacOS Catalina right out of the box.

Just like with the previous model, the new Macbook Air comes with Apple T2 Security Chip, which checks that software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with and provides on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD. It also has built-in Touch ID to unlock the Macbook without typing a password or when making online purchases.

The new Macbook Air is powered by a Built-in 49.9‑watt‑hour lithium‑polymer battery, Apple said that it can power the new Macbook Air up to 11 hours of wireless web; up to 12 hours of movie playback via Apple TV app and up to a month of standby time.

There are now 140 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines

Department of Health just announced that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 case in the Philippines is now at 140, a two-digt jump from the previous reported cases. DOH reported that 29 new patients infected by COVID-19.

DOH also said that there have been three new deaths due to the virus; an 86-year-old American man from Marikina City, a 40-year-old Filipino from Pasig City and a 64-year-old man from Negros Oriental.

UAAP suspends Season 82 for both High School and Collegite level due to COVID-19

University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) has announced that they’re cancelling the remainder for Season 82 for both High School and Collegite level due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The league said that games can resume no later than May 1, “if the government declares that it is safe to resume classes on April 15, 2020 and does not prohibit mass gatherings.”

NBA suspends season due to Corona Virus

The NBA just announce that they’ve suspend the season after a Utah Jazz Player tested positive for corona virus or COVID-19. The announcement did not include the name of the player but in an ESPN reports, that player is Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

The suspension for all games moving forward will be in effect until further notice.

June Mar Fajardo takes home his sixth Most Valuable Player award in the PBA

PBA just awarded the sixth Most Valuable Player award of June Mar Fajardo. Fajardo is the only PBA player to have the most MVP award in PBA history, he is two MVP awards ahead of Ramon Fernandez and Alvin Patrimonio in the all-time MVP list.

Despite the award, the San Miguel Big man will miss out the action in the Philippine Cup, since he is currently recovering from a fractured shin. San Miguel is the defending Philippine Cup Champion.

Fajardo garnered a total of 3,140 points coming from statistical points, media votes, players’ votes and PBA votes to get MVP No. 6.

There are now 10 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines

MANILA, Philippines (2nd update at 1:20 a.m.) — The Department of Health confirmed four additional cases of the novel coronavirus disease, namely two Filipinos and two foreign nationals who are being treated in undisclosed private hospitals.

The report released shortly before midnight on Monday brings the confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines to 10.

Two of the four new cases are foreigner and two Filipinos

  1. A 38-year-old Taiwanese man who did not recently travel outside the country. However, he was in contact with another Taiwanese national while in the Philippines who was later diagnosed with COVID-19 in Taiwan. His symptoms started manifesting on March 3.
  2. A 32-year-old Filipino man who returned from a trip to Japan within the last 14 days. The onset of his symptoms was on March 5.
  3. An 86-year-old American man who traveled to the United States and South Korea. He has preexisting hypertension. His symptoms began on March 1.
  4. A 57-year-old Filipino man who was reported to have had contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the Philippines. He has no history of travel.

Saudi’s Ministry of Education suspends all classes on all levels
