KCON Korean Festival returns to Saudi for the Second time

Here’s something for OFW who are a big fan of K-pop, K-drama and/or Korean culture in general.

The KCON Korean Festival will return to Saudi Arabia to celebrate Korean culture in all its vibrant forms. This year, KCON Riyadh 2023 is officially happening this fall. The festival will take place on Friday, October 6, and Saturday, October 7, at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Boulevard Riyadh City.

KCON Riyadh 2023 promises to be an exciting event, featuring performances by 14 South Korean bands. Fans can look forward to a variety of concerts and meet-and-greets, providing a unique opportunity to interact with their favorite artists.

But KCON is not just about music. It’s a celebration of all things Korean. In addition to the musical performances, there will be an exhibition dedicated to Korean culture. This will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of Korea’s rich history and traditions.

Moreover, a market will be set up where attendees can pick up all sorts of Korean goodies. Whether you’re looking for K-pop merchandise, traditional Korean crafts, or popular Korean snacks.

First launched in LA in 2012, KCON has since grown into one of the largest Korean cultural festivals worldwide. It now attracts over a million visitors yearly across four continents.

No line up have been announce and we can assume that this will come in the coming days.

MOMOLAND Officially Disband after 7 years

MOMOLAND just announced that the group are now disbanded. In a note written in Korean posted by the group members and referring to their loyal fans as “Merries”, explained that “they (Momoland) decided to take a step forward towards our dreams and cheer for a new start.” and “even though they are no longer a group, they will still support each other.”

Here’s the Google Translate version;

hello. This is Momoland Ain.
First of all, I’m so sorry to our Merries, who must have been very upset to have encountered it first through an article.
I’ve always been thinking about how to repay our Merries, who always cheered me on and gave me a lot of strength.
Looking back, there were a lot of shortcomings and a lot of regrets, but I feel that there are more happy moments than that.
After a really long thought, the 6 of us, Momoland, decided to take a step forward towards our dreams and cheer for a new start.
Even though the 6 of us are scattered, we are always one team, and just like our beloved Marys who always stood by Momoland, we, as Momoland, will always be by Mary’s side.
I wanted to tell you the news quickly, but I’m so sorry that I finally did it, and thank you for waiting.
Please continue to support and look forward to Momoland and each member’s future.
thank you

The disbandment of the group came less than a month after their MLD Entertainment announced that it will not renew its contract with the KPOP South Korean girl group. The group did not make any additional announcement on what their future plans are.
