Netflix released a teaser trailer (below) for all the upcoming films and series for 2024. The very last sequence shown in the trailer was that of Squid Game’s main protagonist Seong Gihun. Top Korean actor Lee Jungjae currently plays the role.
Fans of the show will know that this is just a continuation of the first season’s ending. Seong Gihun has just won the game and is onboarding a plane to leave the country. He then changes his mind halfway through boarding, and the scene cuts.
This new teaser however, reveals a possible plot direction for the second season. Some of the cast will return. One of the most anticipated appearances for Squid Game Season 2 will be of Investigator Hwang Jun-ho. The audience were left with an ambiguous ending when the investigator’s brother shoots him and Hwang Jun-ho falls to his death (or not).

The investigator, played by actor Wi Ha-Joon, will most likely continue his pursuit of the people behind the Squid Games. In an interview with Screenrant, Director Hwang Dong-Hyuk intends to explore the relationship between the Investigator and his brother, the Frontman.
However, Squid Game Season 2 will soon stream on Netflix, and we just have to wait and see for the actual series to unravel the plot.
