L.A.’s Staples Center to be renamed to Crypto.com Arena

Staples Center, the home of the NBA’s Lakers and Clippers, the NHL’s Kings and the WNBA’s Sparks, will change its name to Crypto.com arena. Crypto.com is reportedly paying $700 million for the naming rights of the building for 20 years. Crypto.com and AEG did not provide the details of the deal.

The 20,000-seat arena has been called Staples Center since it first opened in 1999, the naming rights owned by the American office-supplies retail company under a 20-year agreement and during that time, Lakers have won six NBA championships, the Sparks winning three WNBA titles and the Kings captured their first two Stanley Cup championships (2012 and 2014) in the building.

The new name will officially take effect on Christmas where the L.A. Laker faces the Brooklyn Nets in on of the much awaited NBA’s Christmas games.
